Final Report for the New Brunswick Sea Level Rise Project

Environment Canada

Over the coming decades, many coastal communities will begin to experience the impacts of rising sea levels. Storm surges such as the record flooding event of January 21, 2000 show that the effects are with us already. The report contains a number findings which will help you and your community being planning for the future now to protect economic, social, and environmental resources along the coast.

Major funding for this project was provided by the Government of Canada's Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Program and Environment Canada's Meteorological Service of Canada. Additional resources came from the Environmental Trust Fund of the New Brunswick Department of Environment; Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada; the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources; the Earth Sciences Sector of Natural Resources Canada; the Canadian Environment Assessment Agency; Parks Canada Agency (Kouchibouguac National Park); the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada; and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
